A fitting farewell was given to our loving 10th std students as they are bidding us final good bye. Scouts Guides On March  : Infant Jesus School
Scouts and Guides students participated in the Trekking to Manjarabad Fort Sakaleshpur. Students along with teaches constructed the temporary flag pole and hosted the scouts and guides flag. Various activities were conducted to enhance the spirit of students. All voluntarily cleansed the fort surroundings and collected the plastics to dispose in the dustbin.

Clean Hand Healthy Life  : Infant Jesus School
To create the awareness about the hygiene and health Hand Wash Day was organised in the school for the students of class LKG to 5th. 6 scientific way of washing hands was thought to the students. Practical experience of hand wash helped the students to understand the right method of hand wash. Baby Sharmai Fathima in her speech enlightened the students about When? How? and Why ?we should wash our hands clean.

Jingle Bells : Infant Jesus School
Christmas was celebrated with full gusto and enthusiasm in the school. Teachers sang the carols in Kannada English Konkani and French Language. Prizes were distributed to the Winners of the Christmas greeting card and star competition. Our joy was doubled as we combined the anticipated birthday celebration of our Principal Rev Fr Andrew Jayaraj. Children enjoyed the Christmas cake and sweets on their way home. In the afternoon management arranged Christmas tree program to teachers. All teaching and non teaching staff was given Christmas gift from the management.

Christmas is a time to have fun with crib stars and cards abd very many glittering things. A completion was organized in view of Christmas season. Many children participated with jubilation and joy. Varieties of Christmas star and handmade greeting cards decorated the school campus in a special way.

SMBHRAMA 2019 : Infant Jesus School
School annual day was celebrated with splendid gaiety and fervor under the banner SAMBHRAMA 2019. Rev Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza Vicar Provincial Holy Trinity Province Karnataka presided over the program. Addressing the gathering he asked the parents to encourage their children according to their talents. Representing the CT Ravi Minister of tourism Govt of Karnataka his wife Mrs. Pallavi Ravi gave guideline about parenting. Mr Raghu Gowda N.B HaVALDHAR Indian Aramy intited the students to inculcate the spirit if patriotism in the beginning stage of life itself. ICSE and SSLC Topers of 2018-19 were facilitated. Mr Michael Baptist Waterjet Engineers sponsored the scholarship for the toppers. Students put up a colorful cultural event which won the hearts of all.

Little infantines were introduced to the different taste that they come across. They were also made familiar with the English synonyms. Children were given the different etabels to tase and spell the taste. Children enjoyed the creative activity conducted by teaches and went home with new experience and excitement.

PRATHIBHA KARANJI : Infant Jesus School
Mugthihalli Cluster level Prathibha Karnaji was held in our school. Mrs Jesantha Anil kumar President Health and Education Committee Chikamagalaure inaugurated the program. Mr. Manjunath BEO gave a key note address and congratulated the school for the wonderful organization of the event. Nearly 21 government and private schools participated in the competitions and won good many prizes in different activities.

Deepawali A Festivity of Lights : Infant Jesus School
There’s always something warm and bright, about this time of the year, when everything has a special glow, and hearts are full of cheer. Deepawali marks the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, but it also is a day of service and generosity to our fellow man. Infantine celebrated Deepawali with much festivity and joy. Shri Sadaksari temple priest of Adisakthi Nagar gave a thought provoking massage to the gathering about the significance of the feast . Students enacted the short play of Bali Chakravarthi and won the hearts of all. May the mirth and merriment of the magical festival of lights give you endless moments of joy and love.

    February 14th was a very painful day for all the Indians as 40 CRPF Soldiers were martyred in Pulwama Kashmir. Infant Jesus school paid a heartfelt tribute to the national heroes on 18th of February at the school premises, by singing the national anthem and by lighting the lamp.     It is a rightly said “Today’s science is tomorrow’s technology”. The Science department of IJS worked on these lines to put up science exhibition on 14th February 2018. Chief Guest Mrs. Mini Thomas principal of St. Joseph’s PU college, Mr. Krishna Murthy (Chemistry Dpt) and Mr. Rudrappa Ningappa Thalvar inaugurated the exhibition.     It is said by experience that ‘Learning does not take place only within the four walls of the classroom but also outside of it. To facilitate the children to learn better and keeping in mind the other dimension of learning through visits to the historical places, Infant Jesus School organized educational excursion to the tourist spots of North Karnataka on 4th and 5th November. We were very fortunate to visit the places of karnataka’s cultural heritage and archeological legacy in Badami, Ihole, pattadakallu, Hampi, Hospet etc. It was a fun filled tour as the students made the most of this opportunity to widen their horizon of knowledge. As we returned on the morning of 6th November there was contentment in our hearts and smiles on our faces having celebrated our life together as one family.

    As the age old proverbs goes ‘All work and no play makes jack a dull boy, the Infant Jesus school had organized intramural sports day. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to showcase their talents and abilities in the area of sports. In fact the students participated with extraordinary energy and enthusiasm both in the indoor and outdoor games making the best use of opportunities. To win prizes for themselves and their teams. Mr Nataraj MD Water Jet Engineers presided over inaugural function of the sports day. In this presidential address said ‘Student life is for integral growth of every individual and sports plays a very crucial role in achieving that purpose. It was a treat for the eyes to see our students excel in ports as well. Eventually the ‘Purple group’ as the champions of the present academic year. Our proud parent Mr Deepak Tukaram National level Wrestling Champion was felicitated by the school management.

  • Children's Day @ Infant Jesus School
    In the entire academic year the most favorite day for all the students is; Children’s day. The down of November 14th brought an extra ounce of cheer and enthusiasm in the students of Infant Jesus School as the management and the staffs left no stone understand to make this celebration beautiful for the children in every possible way. On this special day in the morning, the teachers themselves conducted the assembly, played the band set, sang the prayer song and the anthem and organized so many games and activities which thrilled the children the most. In the afternoon all the children were served the delicious vegetarian meal which they all enjoyed. After which the staff members put up a fun-filled cultural program. It was very rare spectacle for the students to watch their teachers dancing, singing and acting. In the end it was the scintillating group dance of all the 40 staff and non staff members shaking their hands and legs to the rocking tune of ‘Om Shanthi Om’ left the children thoroughly entertained.

At times they appear to be tough on us, but it’s only for our betterment as they ultimately try to mould, shape and chisel our raw talents and potentials, and help us fight our fears and weaknesses. In India Teachers day is celebrated on September 5th every year which is also Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary. He was the second president of India. It was a mega day at Infant Jesus School on September 5th. The day began with sports for teachers. Various sports were organized like relay, tug of war and musical chair.

  • Kargil Vijay Diwas @ Infant Jesus School
    Kargil Vijay Diwas, is named after the success of Operation Vijay. On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intruders. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year in honour of the Kargil War's Heroes. It was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC). The Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated in the Infant Jesus School. This attempt by the school authorities helped to inculcate patriotism in the young minds of the students.   • Celebration of Ramzan Festival in Infant Jesus School
    Ramzan festival was celebrated in the school on 20-6-18. Mr. Siraj uddin Sakafi was the chief guest of the program. In his address to the gathering, he beautifully explained the significance of Ramzan and threw light on the fact that all of us have one God and the blood that flows in our bodies is one. He emphasized the unity of all religions. Students read the Holy Quran on this occasion. Fr. Andrew Jayaraj, the principal of Infant Jesus School also addressed the gathering.   • Inauguration of the Academic Year 2018-19 : Infant Jesus School
    The inaugural function of the academic year 2018-19 was organised on 1/06/2018. The dignitaries who presided over the function were Fr. John Baptist; Fr. Andrew Jayaraj, Principal; Fr. Amar Lobo, Vice Principal and Fr. Anil Kumar, director of Padre Pio study home. Fr. Andrew Jayaraj inaugurated the Academic year 2018-19 by writing the motto of our school on the logo. All the dignitaries present did the lighting of the lamp, symbolising the spark of knowledge. Fr. John Baptist, the chief guest of the function addressed the gathering and wished students a bright year. The program came to an end with the distribution of sweets to all the students and teachers.

The annual sports meet was held at Infant Jesus School on 25th November.Rev.Fr. Baptist Gonsalves OFM Cap was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The chief guest hoisted the flag signalling the start of the sports meet, followed by the March past and Oath taking ceremony. Chief Guest Rev.Fr. Baptist Gonsalves addressed the students, highlighting the importance of sport and games in each student’s life. After the opening ceremony, group wise competitions were held for the students. The day was filled with exciting victories and near misses for the groups.

    Children are loved by one and all. They win our hearts with their innocent smiles. Children’s fest was celebrated with fun and frolic at Infant Jesus School on November 14th. It was a fun filled day for the students. The teachers made the day very special, as they had a lot of fun filled activities lined for them. The day began with inaugural of the Children’s fest. Rev. Fr. John Peter OFM Cap was the chief guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. He also addressed the students.  After the inaugural programme varieties of cultural competitions such as group dance, fancy dress, best out of waste, Rongoli and cooking without fire were held. Students actively participated in the competitions and won the prizes. In the afternoon, teachers entertained students by presenting a variety of entertainment programme. The school campus was buzzing with excitement and joy colourfully dressed children. It was just the end of the day, but the flavour of the event was absorbed by each and every one.

  • Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration @ Infant Jesus School
    “A student is he who continuously uses his faculty of observation and carves out for himself a path of life”. Mahatma Gandhi.
    Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 2nd October 2017 at Infant Jesus School. The programme began with a prayer song. A devotional ambience prevailed as the programme started with meaningful prayer service in the form of “Sarva Dharma Prathana”. As Gandhiji said,” The need of the moment is not one religion but mutual respect and tolerance of different religions”. It was proved, as students read each verse from the Bible, Quran and BhagavatGeeta. Rev.Fr.Godwin, Principal addressed the students and exhorted to imbibe the Gandhian principles of truth and non-voilence. As part of the celebration, a cleanliness drive was held in the school campus. Staff and the students actively and zealously participated in the clean drive as to make the school environment dirt and dust free. At the end of the programme, the school choir sang the hymn “Raghupati Raghava Rajaram” dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and refreshments were served to everyone as part of the celebration.

  • Teachers' Day Celebrated @ Infant Jesus School
    “Teacher- a source of love and inspiration, a great teacher can change your life”.
    Teachers Day at Infant Jesus School was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The day started with giving a tribute to Dr.Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The day had an emotional and recreational touch. The school students’ council did all the preparations with complete energy and excitement. There were various games conducted for the teachers and students also performed various dances. The students thanked teachers for their commitment and dedication to the cause of education. The teachers were overwhelmed on seeing the colourful entertainment programme put up by the students. Principal, Fr.Godwin congratulated the teachers on the eve of the Teachers Day and thanked all the students for their love and appreciation.

  • Independence Day Celebration @ Infant Jesus School
    The Independence Day has a great importance in every citizen’s life. This day reminds us every year that freedom is sacred and citizens must do everything to ensure that it shall not be endangered. The 71st Independence Day Celebration was held with great patriotic fervour at Infant Jesus School. Rev.Frs. George Godwin, Amar Lobo and Baptist Gonsalves, Parents-Teachers Association members Mr.Purushotham, Ravi Paul and Ramesh were on the dais. The National Flag, the pride of our nation was hoisted by the Principal, Rev.Fr.George Godwin, who inspired the students to nurture in them the spirit of unity and integrity .March Past, drills and entertainment programme were the part of the Independence Day celebrations. Winners of the various school competitions were awarded with prizes. Breakfast and Badam milk was served to all the students and parents after the programme.

  • Achievers felicitated at Infant Jesus School
    The achievers of Zonal level sports competition which was held at Chikmaglur recently were felicitated at Infant Jesus School during assembly, to encourage and motivate them for further excellence. Infant Jesus School higher primary students brought laurels to the school by winning 1st prize both boys and girls in Kabaddi and winning 2nd prize in 400 m Relay. Special thanks to our school PE teachers Mr.Santhosh & Mrs.Bindu for training the students for the competition.

  • Fancy dress competition at Infant Jesus School
    A grand and gorgeous fancy dress competition was held at Infant Jesus School on 5th August 2017. Students of ICSE section from UKG-Class IV actively participated in the competition. Students came forward displaying their vibrant costumes and enjoyed participating in the competition. The competition brought an amiable ambience and the judges retorted with their applause. Thanks to parents for their great collaboration. It was indeed a mesmerizing event which would be etched in our memory for a long time.

  • Magic show @ Infant Jesus School
    A magic show was organised at Infant Jesus School on August 3rd.The show was performed by famous magician Mr. John from Chikmaglur. He performed many tricks and illusion that made the staff and the students watch him in rapt attention and excitement. The magic wand, the magic words and the interesting and distinctive style of magician kept everybody astounded. School Principal Fr.Godwin thanked Mr. John for making the day a really magical and entertaining everyone. The show was a great success and the children enjoyed it very much.

  • Ramzan Celebration @ Infant Jesus School
    As part of their learning about different religious practices, to teach the students about the significance of Ramzan festival, Infant Jesus School observed Ramzan celebration on 23rd June. Hazrath’s Salim and Shaffi were the chief guests of the celebration. In their speech they enlightened the students on the importance of Ramadan month, significance of fasting, the need to do charity, the gain of self –control and self-discipline. Speeches, prayers and Qawali’s were performed. Rev.Frs. Godwin, Deepak, Andrew Jairaj and Amar Lobo witnessed the event and added grace to the celebration. As part of the celebration “Dates” were distributed to the students.

  • Inauguration of the students’ council 2017-18
    Inauguration of the students’ council 2017-18 of Infant Jesus School was held on June 15th, 2017 during the school assembly. Rev.Fr.Godwin, Principal in his inaugural address wished the students a very useful and a wonderful year of students’ council. The school SPL and DSPL Vishweshara P, Rakshita, Shashank Gowda and Shilpa along with other ministers took the oath to work for the progress of the student community in collaboration with the staff. This was administered by the Principal Fr.Godwin.Rev.Frs. Deepak, Andrew Jairaj and Amar Lobo were present for the assembly. Vishweshara P, School SPL proposed vote of thanks.   • Inaugural of new academic year @ Infant Jesus School.
    The inauguration of the new academic year 2017-18, for infant Jesus school was held on 5th June 2017. The chief dignitary of the day was Rev.Fr. Deepak Rayappa, Superior of Infant Jesus Nivas. The other dignitaries present were Fr.George Godwin, Principal; Fr.Andrew Jairaj, Vice-Principal and Fr. Amar Lobo, Director-Padre Pio study Home. The ceremony commenced with a prayer song by the school choir. This was followed by the ceremonious lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The prayers were then recited, followed by readings taken from the Bhagavadh Gita, The Quran and the Bible. Rev.Frs. Deepak and Godwin addressed the students and the staff. During the inaugural ceremony toppers of class 10 students were felicitated and teachers were also felicitated. The inaugural ceremony then concluded with school anthem.

  • FAREWELL DAY @ INFANT JESUS SCHOOL, CHIKMAGLUR.
    On 4th March, Infant Jesus School witnessed its first farewell function hosted by the students of class 8th and 9th and dedicated to the first outgoing batch of class of 10 students of Infant Jesus. The day was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce joyous moments. Rev.Fr.Alwyn Dias, Vicar Provincial and CEB executive Secretary was the chief guest and Rev.Fr. Dancy Martis, Principal, St.Anthony’s School, was the guest of honour. The programme began with a prayer dance, followed by a fun and frolic programme which consisted of skit, dance and farewell song. A PPT was also presented that covered all the happenings and achievements class 10 had during the past few years in the school. Fr.Godwin the Principal gave the final message. Mementos were distributed to the outgoing students. The programme ended with a sumptuous meal for the students of class 10th and staff.

  • KANNDA RAJYOSTAVA CELEBRATION @ INFANT JESUS SCHOOL
    Kannada Rajyostava is celebrated all over Karnataka specifically on1st November but generally throughtout November. It is day when the state rejoices in the true spirit of kannada. Infat Jesus School joined the Chikmaglur Distric Administration to celebrate the 61st Kannada Rajyostava.Attractive tableaux and cultural programmes added colour to the Rajyostava Day celebrations at the District Grounds, Chikmagalur.As many as 10 tableaux from different schools and government departments came in a procession and these tableaux focussed on different themes. Among the attractive displays was the tableaux of “Recipients of Jnanapith Award” presented by the Infant Jeus School, Chikmaglur, secured the best prize.

    The 70th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. The ceremony began at 8.30am in the school open ground with large crowd of staff, students and parents. The flag hoisting ceremony was performed by the principal Fr.Godwin, who highlighted the importance of the day and urged the students to remember the sacrifices of the patriots and martyrs who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. Fr. Rayappa Deepak, Chief guest, urged the students to become responsible citizens and prepare themselves to serve the nation as good leaders.

  • Inauguration of taekwondo classes@ Infant Jesus School
    On 9th July taekwondo class was inaugurated at Infant Jesus School. Mr. Girish, taekwondo master inaugurated the class by addressing the students about the importance of self-defence in life. He and his team members displayed before the students a few skills of taekwondo. At the end students who participated in the District level taekwondo championship, received certificates from Fr.Godwin, the principal.

  • Ramzan celebration @ Infant Jesus School
    The Staff and the students of Infant Jesus School celebrated Ramzan on 8th July. Fr. Deepak Rayappa was the chief guest of the program. Prayer song was sung and students read the selected verses from the Quran. Rahila, student of 9th B, gave the brief information about Ramzan. Fr. Deepak spoke about the significance of Ramzan. Students entertained every one through their colourful program with the distribution of sweets the program ended.

  • BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF PRINCIPAL
    Every occasion is celebrated in our school in different ways with our principal permission. Thus the vice principal along with staffs decided to surprise our principal on his birthday. So we began this day with a wishing song and prayers for him. The cake was cut wishing song was sung by teachers along with children. A cultural programme was conducted, after this gift from staffs and children were presented to principal and with gratitude of thanks he gave a speech on his pleasant feelings of the surprise party. Finally students wished him individually with love.

    “know thy self…. To know oneself one should go through all the secrets of our life. Keeping this in mind the group from Anuraga Seva Samsthe, Belur helped our students to know one of their secret of life that is their blood group.   • PARENT’S SPORTS DAY AT INFANT JESUS SCHOOL
    So in respect to them we had conducted the parent’s sports. Nearly 700 parents participated in games like cooking without fire, throw ball, short put, disc throw, volley ball, kabbadi and some funny games. This day began with a small stage programme. Inauguration of the day was by principal by throwing the short put. And it ended with a volley ball match between the school masters and male parents.

  • SPORTS DAY at INFANT JESUS SCHOOL
    Exams are conducted to get result on education, in the same way sports day is conducted to get out all hidden activities to light. It was an overwhelming day for all the students as they were busy with studies. The day began with the inauguration by chief guest CRP Mugthihalli cluster by hoisting the school flag. The sports torch was lighted by chief guest and was honoured by the principal and he thanked everyone with a short speech. Our principal declared sports day open and activities like athletic games- Relay, 100, 200, and 400 mtrs running, Short put, High jump, Long jump and group activities like Kabbadi, Kho-kho, Volley ball, Throw ball, Foot ball, Cricket were held for the 4 groups.

  • A DAY OF REFRESHING BY THE INFANTIANS
    In schools we teach children a lot, but they really enjoy learning in reality through educational tours. Yes keeping this in mind a school educational trip was held for students to Mangalore. Vice principal, two teachers, and a helper accompanied 60 students. It was a wonderful journey through the sahyadri hills. The places like nandini milk dairy, pilikula and manasa gave us an informative experiences and enjoyments, later refreshing in manasa water park said bye to mangalore and reached school safely at around 9.30pm.

  • PRATHIBA KARANJI
    “The best opportunity to bring out the students talent is none other than Prathiba karanji”. A great opportunity was given to students to bring out their hidden talents and ability of success. On 5/11/2014 higher primary children had their chance of participation. Here they won 1st prize in Storytelling, Dharmika patana, and 3rd in Janapada dance. On 6/11/2014 high school students in their turn, won 2nd prize in English speech, Fancy dress and 3rd in Mimicry, Hindi speech and Janapada dance. The prizes won by them were handed over to them in school by the principal in the morning assembly the very next day.

    “There is a inner child in each one of us .This day gives us not only to wish our little buds but also the inner child within us.” This day began with the assembly conducted by the teachers. Lot of new interesting games were held for the children by the class teachers. Food was prepared for the children in the school by the teachers. Sweets were also been distributed. After a delicious meal with the children, the day cultural programme was held by the teachers like skit, dance, and prizes were distributed to the winners for games conducted in the morning.     Rajyotsava Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 1st of November, 2014 in a very meaningful way. Mr. Dominic Mendon was the chief guest; Fr. Dancy Martis was the president of the programme, Frs. Deepak, Anthony and Lancy were on the dias. The invited guests spoke about the importence of the day… The chief guest inaugurated the newly set Kannada club in the school. He opined saying that Infant Jesus School is a unique one to open Kannada club in the school. Further he stated that we should always respect the place and the people no matter of their language, caste and religion. Thus on 31/10/2014 we all were sad as we had to bid farewell from our school .A small programme was held in honour of gratitude to her .Children entertained her with their dances. And staff and students shared their feeling of bidding farewell to Mrs. theresa . She was honoured by our principal, vice principal and teachers president. She shared her feeling and thanked each and every one for the co-operation and encouragement given to her.   • CELEBRATION OF DIWALI-THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT
    “God created sun to overcome darkness every day. And by sharing its light, it gives us joy”. In the same way Diwali is celebrated to overcome darkness of our lives. By celebrating it every year it gives us an opportunity to share our joy and happiness with each and everyone. Thus keeping this specification of light in mind our school management decided to conduct a celebration on 30/10/2014. The day celebration was inaugurated by all the staffs by lighting the lamp. There was brief information read about diwali by a staff of the school. Crackers were burst by the children under the guidance of the teachers.     October 4th is the Festal Day of our Patron St. Francis of Assisi. It was celebrated in a grand manner at Infant Jesus Nivas, Chikmagalur. Fr. George D’souza, the Vicar General of chikmagalur diocese was the main celebrant. In his homily he highlighted the qualities of this unique saint who had no enemies in this world.     “Celebration of every feast is very often, in the same way celebration of spirituality also”. Thus we had a great celebration of our founder’s feast. Nearly 80 to 90 ofs brothers and sisters were present for the celebration. The Holy mass was celebrated by the parish priest of cathedral along with other priests.     “Non-violence was the main thought and dream of our nation’s father...  Mahathma Gandhi”. To keep up this we had conducted a small programme in our school. Our principal made everyone to understand the values and importance of this day and the greatness of Mahathma Gandhi.   • ZONAL LEVEL SPORTS
    “Gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They are made of sweat, determination and hard to find alloy called guts.” Yes with the same guts our students participated in the zonal level sports on 27/8/14 held in chickmagalore .They have secured first place in girls kabadi, second place in highjump, kho-kho , 600 mtrs relay, and volley ball. Here these students have got an opportunity to participate in Taluk level sports. All these students received their prizes and certificates in the school assembly on 30/8/14.   • VANAMAHOTHSAVA PROGRAMME BY DHARMASTHALA GROUP
    A group of Dharmasthala had conducted environment programme in our school. Environment leader Mr.Madhusudhan, agriculture leader Mr. Shashidar and the principal of our school, Fr. Dancy were on the dias. The resource persons enlightened the students on how they can get along with environment and protect them. Plants was presented to the institute, prizes were distributed to the children who were won in the last year environment quiz conducted by them .Finally a speech and thanks giving was done by our Principal and lastly a plant was planted by the members arrived along with our Principal, vice principal and children ,sweets were been distributed to the children by them. click here for more

  • Special physical Activities:
    Education is a best part for children to improve their knowledge, Mean time physical activities are too important. So keeping this in mind the management of Infant Jesus school invited the Tykondo association of Karnataka for the demo classes. The dance master was also invited to teach ‘hip-hop’, classssical and western dance.

  • Farewell programme to Sr. Sunitha Joy.
    A rocket is launched to space with a small space craft in it, which gives lot of information to the entire world. In the same way one of the staffs from our institute Sr. Sunitha Joy, who worked here for the past three years, had to say good bye as she is transferred to the another community to pursue her further studies. We had our principal, superior, vice-principal, teacher’s president, school SPL and Sr. Sunitha joy on the dais as the guests.     On 12th july parent teacher meeting was held and it was started with a small prayer song. Everyone was welcomed by our staff. The superior Fr. Deepak rayappa gave a speech on the importance of parents duty towards their child. Former PTA president gave a speech on guiding words to teachers and parents.     On 25th June, 2014 our provincial of capuchin Friars Minor and also the president of Capuchin Education board Fr. Joseph Dolphy Pais and Provincial secretary Fr. Deepak Fernandes had visited our Infant Jesus School. On this day our provincial met all the teaching and non teaching staff personally. In the afternoon we had small function in which our provincial, provincial secretary and Fr. Rayappa Deepak enlightened children and staff with some thoughts.   • Elections 2014-15 @ Infant Jesus School
    People can come up in life and show their ability only when they are given a chance. Keeping this in mind our institute has given a chance to the students to work in a leadership as as SPL and DSPL along with 10 ministers. Speech was given by the candidates to be elected on 13th June and on 14th June elections were held.     Vanamahotsava is an annual tree-planting festival in India, celebrated on 5th June and even in the first week of July. During this event millions of trees are planted. “Trees mean water, water means bread and bread means life”. And thus this celebration was conducted in our school by Mr. Anand. G.V. as a M.   • Scouts and guides Founders day AT INFANT JESUS SCHOOL:
    We celebrated the Scouts and guides Founders day on 22nd February in our school premises. District training commissioner for guides Sr. Cynthia and our principal Fr. Dancy Martis were the guests of the day. We hoisted the flag. Badan Powell and Lady Baden Powell inaugurated the function by cutting the cake.   • 9th SCHOOL DAY CELEBRATION AT INFANT JESUS SCHOOL: -
    The 9th year school annual day celebration of Infant Jesus School was held on 22nd January. We hoisted the school flag at 3 pm and the programme began at 4.30pm. We welcome the guest through the band set. Fr. Alwyn Dias, the secretary of CEB, Dr. Vijay Kumar, congress district president, Sri. S. T Chandre Gowda, Sri. D.B. Sujendra, PTA president were the guests of the day. Prize distribution and speeches by the guests were excellent. Colourful Cultural programmes from our infants entertained the gathering.     After the new provincial and his team was elected the third council meeting was held in INFANT JESUS NIVAS. It was the maiden visit of the provincial and council together. They were pleased with the atmosphere of kadri midri. They met all the staff and students and Fr. Provincial called them to give prior most attention to disciple.     The students of Infant Jesus School, went for an outing to GRS, the amusement park at Mysore. They were accompanied by 4 staff together with the principal.   • STATE LEVEL CUBS AND BULBUL UTSAVA AT RAICHUR:
    Our twelve students of cubs and bulbul had participated in the state level cubs and bulbul utsava that was held in Kakatiya, Raichur. It was the great honour for our school because from Chikmagalur district only our school was selected for the participation. The students were accompanied by the two teachers, Mr. Alwyn and Mrs. Pushpa. It was 6 days programme. Our students took an active participation in all the activities and were awarded as the Best Performer in the state level....     Christmas Celebration took place at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur, on 24th December, 2013. Sr. Petronilla D’silva, the Superior of Ursuline convent ckm, was the chief guest of the Day. Fr. Lancy Rebello the vice principal gave the Christmas message. In honour of xmas, the school management conducted the star competition and winners were given the prizes.   • Witnessing sports day in Infant Jesus school:
    29th and 30th were the two happy and great days for the students of infant jesus school Kadri Midri . As the students are busy in their studies through out the year, the school management decided to give some refreshment through sports day. The day began with the stage programme. The state Kabaddi player and one of the parents Mr. L.     18th November our provincial Rev. fr. Dolphy pais gave a friendly visit to our community and specially to our school. He addressed the teachers in the staff assembly saying “there are two steps, that is inner step and the outer step that a teacher should take for the holistic growth of the students”.     November 1st is the great day for all the kannada abhimanis.. we the infant jesus school too celebrated kannada rajyostava in our premises. Our principal, vice principal, pta secretary, student parliament president and member of the kannada sangha were on the dias. The whole programme was for 2 hours which was merged with, speeches from the president, students.. Dances from the students, competition for the students.     Infant Jesus school celebrated the Gandhi Jayanthi on 2nd October. It was a short programme presided over by Principal and the Vice Principal.     On the 5th of September, Teachers’’ Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School. Rev. Fr. Deepak Rayappa the Superior of IJ Nivas was the chief guest of the function.     67th Independence Day was celebrated in a grand scale at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur.     Today, 06-08-2013 during the assembly Mr. Chander Rai, Fine Arts College New Delhi, demonstrated craft work to the students. He used chart and colour papers. He also used 3D book with pictures in it and taught the students how to use it. He was very creative and the students and the teachers appreciated his demonstration.

    A Parent – Teacher meeting was held on Saturday, the 13st of July, 2013 to discuss about the growth and development of the students in the field of education and also to elect the new office bearers for the PTA committee. The meeting began at 10.00 a.m. Sr.Mary Lobo the principal of St. Joseph pre-university college in Chikmagalur, was the resource person to address the gathering. More than 500 people were present. Bro.Dancy Martis, the principal and Bro. Lancy Rebello conducted the election of the office bearers for the PTA. Accordingly, Mr. Sujendra – President, Mr. Prabhakara- Vice- president, Mr.Shiva Das – Secretary, Mr. D Dore, Treasurer, Mr.Sathish, Mr, Panchakshari and Mr. Vasanth Kumar were elected as members.   • Thanksgiving Day:-
    On Saturday, 30th March, 2013, Infant Jesus School celebrated Thanksgiving Day. Mr. S Nagesh, the Block Education Officer was the Chief Guest of the Day. The purpose of the day was to honour several personalities who brought laurels to the school during the academic year 2012-2013. 60 students who frequented the school without taking a single holiday and obtaining 100% attendance were honoured besides 14 students (one from each class) as best students of the year.     Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur held the programme for giving award for the Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls on 15th March, 2013.     The members of the Secular Franciscan Order from Chikmagalur region had a spiritual gathering at Infant Jesus Friary, Chikmagalur. 112 members were present and the spiritual talks were offered by Fr. Gerald Lobo, OFM Cap. 10 members had their investiture during the mass. Fr. Lancy Rebello, OFM Cap. the spiritual assistant of the SFO performed these rituals.   • Visit to the District Prison at Chikmagalur:-
    119 students and 12 staff members of Infant Jesus School, at Chikmagalur paid a visit to the district prison at Chikmagalur on 9th March, 2013. The main purpose of this visit was to spread the good news of peace and forgiveness. This programme was a part of the Prison Ministry of India. The students enacted the Parable of Prodigal Son with music and dance. Also the other songs and dances entertained all the inmates of the prison.     Science Day was observed at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 28th February, 2013 to mark the day of Nobel Prize winner Dr. C v Raman. Dr. Geetha Takur from the Government Hospital at Ambale was the chief guest. She also inaugurated the Science club officially and delared the Science Exhibition open. “Taramandala” from Chitradurga had conducted examinations on “Science & Humanity – Story of Science” in the month of December and the results were announced on this auspicious occasion and the certificates and medals were distributed. click here for more

    Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell (22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941) and his wife Lady Olave Baden Powell (22 February 1889 – 25 June 1977) were born on the same day (22nd February) but the difference is 32 years. The Scouts & Guides moment started by this couple in Great Britain has spread to 128 countries of the world. Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur which has the unit of Scouts & Guides, Cubs & Bulbuls, celebrated the birthday of this heroic couple on the 22nd of February.     33 Cubs & Bulbuls together with teachers of Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur went for a hiking to Shringeri on 17th February, 2013. It was a part of the monthly activities of the Cubs & Bulbuls and hence they preferred to go far away. The tiny tots all below 10 years of age left in the morning and returned in the evening with full of rich experience. They had the Darshan of Shringeri temple and also had a holy dip and holy meal.   • Scouts & Guides hiking to Dharmasthala:-
    37 Scouts & Guides together with 3 masters of Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur went for a hiking to Dharmasthala on 17th February, 2013. It was a part of the monthly activities of the scouts and guides and hence they preferred to go to Dharmasthala. They left in the morning and returned in the evening with full of rich experience. For many it was a first experience of Charmadi Ghats and also the divinity of Dharmasthala with a holy meals. click here for more

Vincent Furtado, OFM Cap. the provincial of the Holy Trinity Province of the Capuchin friars presided over the function. Mrs. Mini Thomas, the principal of St. Joseph’s P U & Degree college, Chikmagalur, was the chief guest. Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap., the principal, Fr. Lawrence Dilraj Sequeira, OFM Cap. the vice – principal, Mr. Shreedhar R, the president of the Parent-Teacher-Association were the other dignitaries on the dais.   • Kannada Prathibha Parikshe:-
    Talent Examination for Kannada Language was held in the month of November, 2012 at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. Its results were announced in January, 2013. 87 students answered this exam conducted by Putani Vignana – Chitradurga. All the students have passed in First Class and distinction. 13 students who got ranks received medals at various levels. This exam was conducted and supervised at the school level by Mr. Kiran Kumar, M.A., B.Ed. the president of Kannada Sangha and assisted by Mr. Naveen Nazareth and Mr. Santhosh T R. The certificates and medals were distributed to the winners by Fr. Lawrence Sequeira, the vice-principal of the school.   • Cubs & Bulbuls Utsava:-
    Cubs & Bulbuls Utsava was held at Doddaballapura, Bangalore Rural, from 18th to 22nd January, 2013. Six Cubs from our school participated in the Utsava. The tiny tots were accompanied by their cub masters Mr. Poornachandra S S and Mr. Naveen Nazareth. As the troop was going for the first time outside Chikmagalur, they have a rich experience to share.   • Republic day Celebration :
    Republic day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 26th January, 2013 at 8 a.m. Mr. Kanta Kumar B S, M.A., L.L.B. a lecture cum advocate was the chief guest and hoisted the National Flag and narrated to the crowd the importance of the Republic Day and the constitution of India. Sr. Cynthia Suares, UFS, the District Training Commissioner for Guides was the guest of honour. Students presented colourful programmes with Lezims, dumbbells and hoops for the first time. Later our 22 scouts took part in the Republic Day parade held at the district ground for the first time. Ours was the only school at the primary level to take part in the march past together with high school students, college students and also the police troops.   • Science Talent Examinations, 2012 :
    Science Talent Examinations were conducted at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur in the month of November, 2012. The results were announced on 24th January, 2013. As many as 136 students answered the exams and all have secured first class. 14 students secured ranks at Taluk level, district level, state level and also national level. The certificates and awards were distributed by Sr. Cynthia Suares, UFS, the State Guide Training Commissioner.     Maths Talent Exam by “Putani Vignana Chitradurga”, was conducted in our school in the month of November, 2012. Its results were published on 16th January, 2013. Out of the 141 students who appeared for the exams were all declared passed in the First class and above. 15 students secured ranks at the following level:- Taluk level – 3, District level:- 4, State level:- 5, National level:- 3.   • Christmas Celebration:-
    Christmas was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 22nd December, 2012. Fr. Patrick D’Souza from bishop’s house delivered the Christmas message. On this occasion as India was celebrating Mathematics Day on 22.12.2012, we also inaugurated Mathematics club in our school. Christmas cake was cut and distributed to all the gathering.     Prathibha Karanji (cluster level) was held at Morari Residential Minority School at Tegur on 23rd November, 2012 and the students of Infant Jesus School, participated in all the competitions. 24 students received prizes in various levels.   • English Talent Examination at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur :-
    Karnataka Centre for Talent Exams, Hungund, Bagalkot District, conducted English Talent examinations at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur in the month of August, 2012. Its results were declared on 21st November, 2012. Out of the 184 students who answered this examination, all passed in First Class. 18 students received ranks in various levels, like Taluk level – 5, District level – 4 and State level – 9. Certificates were distributed to all the students while the rank holders received extra medals.   • Children’s Day Celebration at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur:-
    Children’s Day was celebrated on 15th November, 2012 at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. The day began with the school assembly cum prayer led by the staff. This day was combined with the Inaugural programme of English Club in our school. The Chief Guest of the Day Rev. Sr. Savitha Antony, CTS, the General Councilor of the Congregation of Theresian Sisters from Rome, inaugurated the English club by lighting the traditional lamp.   • Karnataka Rajyotsava Day celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur :
    Rajyotsava Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 1st of November, 2012 in a very meaningful way. Karnataka flag was hoisted by Mr. Amar D’Souza, while, Professor M M Lokesh, Kannada lecturer of Government College, Sakarayapatna, inaugurated the newly set Kannada club in the school. He opined saying that Infant Jesus School is a unique one to open Kannada club in the school.     October 4th is the Festal Day of our Patron St. Francis of Assisi. It was celebrated in a grand manner at Infant Jesus Friary, Chikmagalur. Fr. Pradeep Sequeira, S J, the Episcopal Vicar for the religious in Chikmagalur diocese was the main celebrant. In his homily he highlighted the qualities of this unique saint who had no enemies in this world. The school choir consists of all the staff members sang melodiously.   • Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur :
    Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur in a unique way. At 8.30 a.m. all the students and staff gathered at the school auditorium offered flowers to the photo of Gandhiji. Mrs. Chandramma one of the members of the PTA garlanded the photo of Gandhiji and made an eloquent speech about the personality of Gandhiji and his contribution to obtain Independence from the British. Bro. Victor Crasta, the principal narrated Gandhiji’s unique principles like Ahimsa, truth and the love for the poor and the downtrodden.     Taekwondo Association of Chikmagalur District held a competition for High School and Primary students at District level.   • Hindi Divas:-
    September 14th being Hindi Day in India, it was celebrated in a meaningful way at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. Students and staff began the day praying in Hindi. On this auspicious occasion, the school officially inaugurated Hindi Club in the school. The president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and 3 members of the newly inaugurated club arranged the programme in a special way. Besides, lighting the traditional lamp the president cut the cake and distributed to all. Everyone spoke in Hindi whole day to the surprise of all. In order to improve the uses of Hindi language, besides several programmes, it was suggested to speak in Hindi on every Friday of the week.   • Teachers’ Day :
    On the 5th of September, Teachers’’ Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School. Rev. Fr. David Prakash, the rector of St. Joseph’s Minor seminary, Chikmagalur and also the Editor of Sneha Jyothi – diocesan monthly magazine, was the chief guest of the function. He distributed gifts to all the 29 staff members. Besides, the members of Parent-Teacher Association also gave special gifts to each staff . Mr. Shreedhar S, the president of the PTA distributed these prizes. The entire programme was conducted by the students. In the afternoon various competitions were organized between the staff and the students. All the students were given special cake and the staff had a sumptuous meal. click here for more

  • Vanamahotsava :
    Forest Department from Chikmagalur provided each student with a silver plant and celebrated vanamahotsava on 31.08.2012. Mr. Revanna Gowda the forest officer came with 500 silver plants and distributed each student and urged them to plant it, water it, manure it and nurture it and see that one day it becomes a big tree. Students in turn while receiving the plants responded the officer with a promise that they will take good care of these plants and see that all the 500 plants will grow and become big trees and provide shade and shelter. click here for more

  • Abacus Training for the staff:
    Training on Abacus for the staff of Infant Jesus School, at Chikmagalur was held on Sunday, 26th August, 2012. Very Rev. Fr. Vincent Furtado, OFM Cap. the provincial of Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka and also the President of Capuchin Education Board, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Mr. Manthu Fernandis, Research and Resource person of OGAE Way of Education conducted the programme together with his team members Mr. Virendra Patil, Mr. Chetan, Mrs. Veena Umesh, Mrs. Nethra Chetan.   • Independence day celebration:-
    66th Independence Day was celebrated in a grand scale at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. The programme began at 8.30 a.m. by hoisting the national flag by the chief guest of the day Rev. Fr. Valerian Castelino, the Rector of Infant Jesus Shrine at Parvathipura, Chikmagalur. Rev. Sr. Cynthia Suares, UFS was on the dais and received the salute from the students. Three students delivered the Independence Day message in three different languages. Manoj Bp in Kannada, Rosita Monica Sequeira in English and Sakib Nawaz in Hindi.   • Distribution of Identity cards to our students and staff
    Identify cards for each and every students and staff were distribution at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 8th August, 2012. Mr. Shreedhar, the newly elected president of the Parent-Teacher-Association was the chief guest of the programme. He enlightened the students about having an identity card which shows all the details of each student with the names and mobile numbers of their parents and also all the details of the school. He also opined that very few schools in Chikmagalur have this system and Infant Jesus School is a forerunner in this regard and hence all of us need to congratulate the principal who is ever creative and active in various fields.   • Parent Teacher Meeting at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur:-
    A Parent – Teacher meeting was held on Saturday, the 21st of July, 2012 to discuss about the growth and development of the students in the field of education and also to elect the new office bearers for the PTA committee. The meeting began at 10.30 a.m. Mr. Kumare Gowda, M.A., LL.B., M.Phil. the principal of Ramkrishna Education Society in Chikmagalur, was the resource person to address the gathering. More than 500 people were present. Bro. Victor Crasta, the principal conducted the election of the office bearers for the PTA. Accordingly, Mr. Shreedhar – President, Mr. Shiva Kumar – Vice- president, Mrs. Gloria D’Silva – Secretary, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Treasurer, Mrs. Chadramma, Mr, Panchakshari and Mr. Ranganath were elected as members.   • Send off to Bro. Francis Joseph:-
    A fitting farewell was given to Bro. Francis Joseph who was a staff member at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur for about 8 months. Bro. Francis who opted to become a Capuchin priest came here on the 15th of October, 2011 and served the institution as a Computer Faculty, Spoken English Teacher, Music Master besides being a resource person to several staff over here. His several years experience in call centres helped him to do the services in a more responsible way. On the 14th of June, he was given a farewell by the staff and students. The principal enumerated the good qualities of Bro. Francis and said “when we miss you very much, we wish you greater success in your future endeavours”. He was reached to Dayalabagh Ashram, Ujire where he will pursue his further studies to become a priest. Dear Bro. Francis:- “God be with you till we meet again”.

    On the 5th of June, World Environment Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. Fr. Lancy Noel Rebello, OFM Cap. the new priest explained to the students and staff the importance and duty of everyone in preserving the environment. The school principal Br.     The academic year 2012-2013 was officially inaugurated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on the 1st of June, 2012. Fr. Lawrence Sequeira, OFM Cap. blessed all the students gathered and welcomed every new staff by offering a flower each.   • Inauguration & Blessing of the Infant Jesus Friary at Chikmagalur:-
    The newly constructed Capuchin residence and chapel at Infant Jesus School Campus in Chikmagalur was blessed and inaugurated on 15th May, 2012. Rev. Fr. Vincent Furtado, OFM Cap. the provincial of Karnataka Capuchins inaugurated and Rt. Rev. Dr. T Anthoniswamy, the bishop of Chikmagalur blessed the Friary and the chapel. Nearly 35 priests from the diocese and the Capuchins concelebrated the Eucharist with the bishop. After the mass a short felicitation programme was held. Fr. Lawrence Dilraj Sequeira, OFM Cap. the superior of the friary welcomed the gathering. Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap., the principal of Infant Jesus School, thanked everyone and felicitated the architect, engineer, contractor and all the labourers who worked strenuously to complete the building work within 7 months.     Thanksgiving day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 31st March, 2012. The chief guest Rev. Fr. Cyriac T J, the parish priest of Holy Family Church, Vijayapura and Mr. Leo M D’Souza, the sponsor of today’s programme were welcomed at the school entrance by the school band. 108 students who secured hundred percent attendance during the academic year 2011 – 2012 and the best students of the year were felicitated by the guests.     The tiny tots of LKG, UKG and other classes who could not go to GRS Fantasy Park, Mysore, made their way to Gandhi Park at Rathnagiri Bore in Chikmagalur. 383 students with 16 staff members boarded in 3 KSRTC buses found their way to the park. From morning till evening the students and staff enjoyed to the best.

    Mr. Kondaji Shanmughappa, the state chief commissioner of Scouts and Guides paid a flying visit to Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 27th February, 2012. He addressed all the 108 Scouts & Guides and the 6 staff together with the principal and urged everyone to be loyal to their calling by walking in the footsteps of their founder Lord Baden Powell and Olave Lady Baden Powell.     Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell (22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941) and his wife Lady Olave Baden Powell (22 February 1889 – 25 June 1977) were born on the same day (22nd February) but the difference is 32 years. The Scouts & Guides moment started in Great Britain has spread to 126 countries of the world. Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur which has the unit of Scouts & Guides inaugurated recently, celebrated the birthday of these heroic couple on the 22nd of February.   • Republic Day :
    Republic Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 26th January, 2012 for the first time. At 8.30 a.m. the newly purchased school band was in action to welcome the chief guest Fr. Paul Melwyn D’Souza, OFM Cap. (en route Switzerland for Doctoral Research). He hoisted the national flag amidst all the students and parents gathered. In his speech he highlighted the qualities of a students and expressed great satisfaction about the discipline and first of all the school band performance within 20 days of practice. Bro. Victor Crasta, the principal in his speech said that the Tri-colour of the national flag represents 3 religions:- saffron for Hindus, white for Christians and Green for Muslims and in the centre the wheel to unite all the 3 religions and keep us moving and united.     Exhibition at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur was held on the 11th of January, 2012. Mr. D B Attar, the district commissioner of S & G inaugurated the exhibition at 11 a.m. and all the students and some of the parents too came to view the exhibition which was held for the first time in the school. More than 400 items prepared by the tiny tots with the collaboration of their parents attracted the attention of every one.   • Christmas celebration at Infant Jesus School:-
    Christmas Celebration took place at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur, on 23rd December, 2011. Mr. Srinivas, C R P from the Block Education Office, was the chief guest of the Day. Fr. Arthur Menezes, the parish priest of Infant Mary’s Church Bankal, gave the Christmas message and Mr. Ronald Sequeira, the Manager of Karnataka Agencies sponsored and distributed Christmas cake to all present. School children entertained every one with Christmas tableau and other cultural programme. Running race was the high light of the day. The winners were honoured with special Christmas sweets by the PTA member Mr. Raghavendra. Bro.     The inaugural function of the Scout & Guide units at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur took place on 15th December, 2011, at 10 a.m. Mr. Shadakshari M N (District Chief Commissioner – Scouts & Guides) inaugurated the units by lighting the lamp. Mr. Shashidar Rao (District Secretary – Scouts & Guides) hoisted the Flag, Mrs. Celmentine M Pinto (District Commissioner – Guides) did the investiture and Rev. Sr. Cynthia Suares, UFS (District Training Commissioner – Guides) received the oath. 30 cubs, 26 Bulbuls, 28 Scouts and 22 Guides, making a total number of 106 members joined this movement and promised to be better citizens of the country. click here for more

    Mugthihalli Zone organised Prathibha Karanji (Fountain of Talents) to all the Primary and Higher Primary schools at Tegur Govt. Hr. Primary School, Chikmagalur. Infant Jesus School too took part in it and 8 students secured prizes in various competitions. Some of them are selected for Taluk level competitions to be held next week.   • Visit of the Post – Novices to Infant Jesus School:-
    12 Brothers (Amit, Bhaskar, Edwin, Jameson, Nixon, Paul, Roshan, Sandeep, Sanny, Tony, Valerian & Wilfred) from post Novitiate at Clara Vihar, Potnal, together with their guide Fr. Antony Raj, paid a fraternal visit to the Infant Jesus School. The brothers had an interaction with the tiny tots of our school. Later they participated in the Franciscan Quiz via SAS programme of the Smart Class Educomp conducted by the principal Br. Victor Crasta. The high light of the day was a cricket match between the brothers and the staff.

  • Children’s Day Celebration at Infant Jesus School
    November 14th is a special day for all the children in India. This year Kanakadasa Jayanthi took its place on 14th as it was declared a public holiday all over Karnataka. Still the Infant Jesus School took every care to celebrate it on 15th. The programme began at 9.30 a.m. by invoking the blessings of the Almighty God and blessing the children. Fr. Renil, the superior of the Norbertine Fathers at Gavanahalli in Chikmagalur was the chief guest and one of the judges for the Fancy dress and Rangoli Competitions. The other two judges were Mr. Mubarak the district manager of Educomp and Mrs. Geetha Dias, a social worker and philanthropist from Chikmagalur. Being a children’s day all the staff took keen interest to entertain every child by their acting and dancing.

    On the 1st of November, 2011, Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated in Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. At 8.30 a.m. the Karnataka flag was hoisted by Mr. Panshakshari, the district secretary of Karnataka RakshanaVedike. He requested everyone to speak Kannada whether you are in Karnataka or elsewhere. Every Kannadiga should feel proud to be a Kannadiga, he opined. Diana, student of Std. V explained the origin of Karnataka Rajyotsava with all the historical background. Miss Madura C R spoke on behalf of the staff and the school principal Bro. Victor Crasta narrated his experience with examples when he was in abroad how he felt proud to be a member of Karnataka state.   • Building Construction:
    Seeing the rapid growth of the Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur, the school authorities decided to put up first floor and second floor of the school building immediately. Accordingly the work began on July 5th, 2011. On the 17th of September, 2011, concreting the first floor was undertaken. Fr. Lawrence Dilraj Sequeira blessed the work place and prayed over the workers and the instruments that noting untoward may take place. Accordingly the work began at 9 a.m. on 17th and ended on 18th at 8 p.m. successfully.

    Staff Class Training Programme was held at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur for all the staff. The programme began at 9.30 a.m. and ended at 1 p.m. on 17.09.2011. Br.     All the 546 students of Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur were medically examined by Dr. Geetha, M.B.B.S., of Government Hospital at K R Pete. Dr. Geetha along with her team Vasantha Kumari, Vimalakshmi, Gayathri & Lakshmi arrived at 11 a.m. and finished examining the students before 4 p.m. Dr. Geetha expressed her satisfaction to see the discipline of the students and educational environment created in the school.

    August 15th is a memorable day to every Indian citizen and to mark this occasion every institution holds some function or the other.  Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur took extra trouble to make this day a grand success and a memorable one to all.  All the 546 students with their parents gathered at 8 a.m. to hoist the flag by Mr. Jalendra, the president of Mugthihalli Panchayath. There followed the march past and colourful demos by the students.  The chief guest Mr. Jalendra gave the Independence Day message and expressed his desire and felt proud to see such an institution coming up in his area. The principal of the school accorded a warm welcome saying that it is the dream, concern and care of Fr. Vicente that led to the realization of a school in this village area. On this occasion Fr. Vincent distributed the Identity Cards to each and every student and all the staff. He thanked every one for helping the principal and the management to bring up this institution with full of students to obtain the recognition and attention of every one.   • A meeting of Parent-Teacher-Association of Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur, was held on the 3rd of July, 2100 at 10.30 a.m. Mr. Joseph Rodricks, the ex-joint Director of Public Instructions, Bangalore, was the resource person. He explained to the parents about their role in educating theirs children in the proper way by collaborating with the staff in the school. He stressed the need of parents to be more responsible in educating child and not to depend totally on the teachers. Fr. Chetan Leo Lobo, OFM Cap., the secretary of Capuchin Education Board in Karnataka requested the parents to join hands with the school authorities and make use of the infrastructure provided in the school.   • Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur:
    The academic year 2011-2012 was inaugurated together with Smart Class (EduComp) by Mr. L Rangappa, Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Chikmagalur. The newly erected Kids Park was declared open for the kids to play and enjoy, by Fr. Chetan Lobo, the Secretary of Capuchin Education Board in Karnataka. The inaugural function took place at 10 am with a prayer service led by Bro. Vinod Colaco, OFM Cap. and Sr. Gretta Sequeira, UFS. Fr. Lawrence Dilraj Sequeira, OFM Cap., the vice-principal of the School welcomed the dignitaries, the newly joined staff members and also the new and old students. The school has six new staff members and they are:- Bro. Vinod Colaco, OFM Cap., Sr. Gretta Sequeira, UFS, Mr. Abdul Razak, Mr. Halesh G, Miss Reetha N R, and Mrs. Keerthi U. This year the school has classes from LKG to Std. V and nearly 200 new students have sought admissions to make a total strength above 500.

  • Staff Picnic to Manasa, Pilikula, Mangalore:-
    6th March, 2011 was a day of rejoicing, entertainment and boat-riding for the staff of Infant Jesus School. Early morning at 5.30 all the 18 staff members got into a mini bus and traveled to Manasa Water Park at Polikula Mangalore. On the way we had the breakfast at Orchard Palace, Maroor, Moodbidri and reached Manasa at 10.30 a.m. For many of us it was a first time experience in the lovely cold water to enjoy varieties of games. Having enjoyed in every way in the water and a sumptuous meal at the restaurant, at 3 pm we proceeded to the nearby flower garden and then for the boat ride that thrilled every one. Later our visit was to the Pilikula Botanical garden nearby.

  • School Excursion:
    As recommended by the Education department, the Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur held its Annual Day, Sports Day and finally Excursion Day. On the 23rd of February all the tiny tots went to the Gandhi Park in the outskirts of Chikmagalur for a days of outing. The senior students (Std. I – IV) though small ones took the challenge of traveling a long way leading to GRS Fantasy park at Mysore on the 25th. For most of us it was a first time experience to enjoy in the water games. The day was a memorable one for all.
