Visit of Rev. Dr. Vincent
Furtado, OFM Cap.,:-
On the 8th of August, 2011, Rev. Dr.
Vincent Gabriel Furtado, OFM Cap. The president of Capuchin Education Board in
Karnataka with his secretary Fr. Deepak Fernandes, OFM Cap., paid an official visit
to the Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. At 9.15 a.m. he blessed all the 23 staff and
prayed for them during their Morning gathering. At 9.45 a.m. all the 546 student of the
school welcomed him with flowers and warm applause. Br. Victor Crasta OFM Cap. The
principal of the school accorded a warm welcome saying that it is the dream, concern
and care of Fr. Vincent that led to the realization of a school in this village area. On this
occasion Fr. Vincent distributed the Identity Cards to each and every student and all the
staff. He thanked every one for helping the principal and the management to bring up this
institution with full of students to obtain the recognition and attention of every one. School
Pupil leader Rosita Monica Sequeira garlanded the president on behalf of the students. All
the students were given sweets to mark the occasion.
In the evening at 4 p.m. the president addressed all the 23 staff and congratulated
them for being a good teacher in this prestigious educational institution. He opined saying
that Human consciousness is essential for a teacher in order to realise scientific, moral,
religious and aesthetic sense in all they do and teach. He in a every special way thanked the
principal for making every effort to materialize his personal dream in setting up such an
educational institution with full of students and staff within a short span of time. Further,
he invited every staff to make use of the various opportunities and materials provided
in the school such as smart class, computer lab, Kids Park, library and so on. He also
announced saying that by the end o f April 2012 a set of 16 more class rooms on the first
floor and 2 large halls on the second will be ready for the use of staff and students. Further
he declared to say that a boarding house too will be functioning from the coming academic
year in order to accommodate the students who seek admission to our school from far
away places. Mrs. Padmavathi, the assistant teacher thanked the president and the school
management on behalf of the staff for the official visit and for the encouragement being
given to every one now and then and above all for recognizing the hard work of the staff
and increasing their salary as a surprise gift. Bro. Vinod Colaco, OFM cap. thanked every
one gathered, especially the president and his secretary Fr. Deepak Fernandes, OFM Cap.
