Republic Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus
School, Chikmagalur on 26th January, 2012 for the first time. At
8.30 a.m. the newly purchased school band was in action to welcome
the chief guest Fr. Paul Melwyn D’Souza, OFM Cap. (en route
Switzerland for Doctoral Research). He hoisted the national flag
amidst all the students and parents gathered. In his speech he
highlighted the qualities of a students and expressed great
satisfaction about the discipline and first of all the school band
performance within 20 days of practice. Bro. Victor Crasta, the
principal in his speech said that the Tri-colour of the national
flag represents 3 religions:- saffron for Hindus, white for
Christians and Green for Muslims and in the centre the wheel to
unite all the 3 religions and keep us moving and united. Sweets were
distributed to all gathered and students danced to the tune to Vande
Mataram and other patriotic songs.
