Christmas Celebration at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur:-
On 23rd December, 2010, Christmas was celebrated
at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. The programme began at
10 a.m. invoking the blessings of the Almighty by a prayer
song. Bro. Victor Crasta, the principal of the school
welcomed everyone with his Christmas message saying that
Jesus was born in a manger in order to save everyone. He
further opined saying that the tradition of making a crib to
welcome Jesus was the inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi
in the 12th century. The chief guest of the function Fr.
Henry Madtha, the parish of Lourdes Church at Kuduvalli in
Chikmagalur Diocese inspired the school children with a
befitting message on the reason of Jesus becoming a man and
choosing to be born in the manger together with the cattle.
Mr. Hari Singh a non Christian, the Director of “Jeevan
Sandhya” a home for the elderly, delivered an excellent
Christmas message to all the gathered. Mr. Ronald Sequeira,
the manager of Karnataka Agencies at Chikmagalur, sponsored
the entire programme and distributed Christmas cake to each
and every one and impressed all the students saying that
Jesus was sweet and He came to this earth to make every one
sweet and happy. In the same way I am offering you this
sweet cake that all of you must become sweet like Jesus.
Fr. Henry Madtha distributed Christmas gifts to all the
staff and Fr. Lawrence Sequeira, the vice-principal honoured
the guests with shawls, bouquets and cakes. The school
children entertained every one with dances and Christmas
carols. Mrs. Pushpalatha compered the entire programme and
Miss Supriya proposed the vote of thanks.
